Belle Needs Your Help...

Imagine being taken from your family and everything you know, and being abandoned somewhere completely unfamiliar. You would wait for your eyes to adjust and try and work out where you were and how to get home. But what is you were blind, and left out in the cold, surrounded by sounds and smells were all alien?

For most dogs, a trip to the park is a fun, pleasurable experience where they meet up with friends and play with their favourite toys. For a puppy, their first outing to the park might be a bit scary, but with the right encouragement they quickly learn to enjoy themselves, plus they have their owner to give them reassurance. But for Belle, her first trip to the park was a frightening experience, when she was taken from her mum and siblings and abandoned there.

Belle was picked up by a member of the public and taken into our veterinary clinic. She is estimated to be around 10-12 weeks old.

What makes Belle's story all the more heartbreaking is that she is thought to be completely BLIND.

Despite her handicap, Belle is like a normal puppy. She plays, runs around, even gets on the sofa!

She underwent extensive tests at the Royal Veterinary College to see if anything could be done to save her sight. Unfortunately, Belle was found to be completely blind, and she had an operation to remove what remained of her eyes to prevent further problems.

Belle bounced back from surgery and recovered quickly with her foster family. She has grown into a fantastic dog and we are so proud of her achievements so far.

She has now found a permanent home and we hope she has an amazing future ahead of her.
