As part of his new ITV2 show 'Here to Help', Peter Andre and his team are travelling around the country offering help to the great British public. Happy Endings heard of his mission and applied for his help...and he chose us!
Earlier this year we received an email from a production company called CAN TV asking if we would be interested in applying to be featured on a new TV show hosted by Peter Andre called 'Here to Help'. It sounded too good to be true, and we, of course, emailed straight back saying that we would love to be considered. What fantastic exposure that would be for our little charity. But we never dared to dream it would go any further.
We didn't hear anything for a few weeks and so, naturally, we assumed that the production company had been so inundated with responses, we hadn't even reached a shortlist. Then, to our amazement, we received an email from CAN TV informing us that we had been shortlisted to the last 5 in the selection process and could they send a film crew to Happy Endings to do an interview with us? We just couldn't believe it! So, we did the interview!
A few days later they asked if they could come back the following Thursday to take a bit more interview footage for the purposes of deciding who would be in the show. So, naturally, we were delighted and agreed. On the Thursday morning, while CAN TV interviewed Chris at work, Peter Andre snuck up behind him and announced that Happy Endings Rescue had won a place on the show! This second visit had all been a clever ruse! Naturally, this was met with a, somewhat, emotional response from Chris and that evening, the ruse was repeated on Terry...and was met with an equally emotional response!
Well, it was all go from there. The next day (Friday), Peter and his crew came along to film at the house in East Sussex while Chris and Terry were sent to the Grand Hotel in Brighton for a break and a little bit of pampering! On the Saturday, Peter went to B&Q to get a load of tools and equipment for the rescue centre and really pitched in and got his hands dirty with all the animals - what a lovely, lovely man he is. Then, for the grand finale, Peter and his team had arranged a huge open day at the Sanctuary on Sunday, complete with ice cream vans, competitions, stalls, and events to highlight the work that we do and to help us rehome the animals in our care.
It was an amazing whirlwind adventure and one that has really helped to raise Happy Endings' profile, nationally. Peter Andre has been absolutely wonderful in showing his continued support for Happy Endings Rescue and we are sure that the aftermath of the show will aid us enormously in our fundraising and rehoming efforts.
